It’s been a quiet few weeks here in Casa Del K, and we’ve caught up on some movies and music. School has been a maelstrom, what with Open House coming up, and the crunch of the end of the year (?!), that home has become of fortress of relaxation and recuperation. Over the last two weeks, we’ve watched some movies while we avoided laundry…
Sin City
While this goth flick showed a lot of promise, it seemed that they focused so much on the cinematography, and WAAAAY too much on the violence, that they forgot to make the plot as good as Pulp Fiction or the Kill Bill series.
The Bourne Supremacy
Could maybe the people who made this movie, maybe, maybe, MAYBE have read the book before they went on to bastardize this movie? Granted, if you hadn’t read the Ludlum novel, then it was an okay action flick. But if you HAD read the novel, you spent most of the movie surfing the Internet like I did.
Sideways
This movie is the best out of the three. (And the one I’m currently watching.) I wish I knew more about wine. Funny, sad, and a little oakey.
I think there should be a drinking game for it, but not like the Lost in Translation drinking game. (any time Bill Murray has a drink in his hand, or any time Scarlett Johanson is not wearing pants…) Also, be warned that you will see the wrong ratio of naked people. Even the lovely and engaging Mrs. K agrees.
Also picked up the newest Vic Wooten CD. From what I’ve listened to, not his strongest effort. But after a few more listens, I’m sure it’ll come around.
So that’s it from here. Not much is going on that anyone really wants to hear about… we’re just laid back. Now I better go do some laundry.
OUT.

Two semi-quick things…
First, Saturday was the one year anniversary of our friend Greg’s death. We miss you, Greg. You touched lives in ways that you did not know, and your repercussions are still being felt. I wish you were here today to see how things have worked out… there aren’t words. So we’ll leave it at we miss you.
Second, 04.03.05 marked the one year anniversary of my entry to online blogging world. Have I made a difference? Who knows. Have I upgraded at least once? Yes, yes I have. I hope this year brings even more changes, upgrades, and of course, more ebjournaling.

Lyrics provided by oneshiningmoment.com
The ball is tipped
and there you are
you’re running for your life
you’re a shooting star
And all the years
no one knows
just how hard you worked
but now it shows…
(in) ONE SHINING MOMENT, IT’S ALL ON THE LINE
ONE SHINING MOMENT, THERE FROZEN IN TIME
But time is short
and the road is long
in the blinking of an eye
ah that moment’s gone
And when it’s done
win or lose
you always did your best
cuz inside you knew…
(that) ONE SHINING MOMENT, YOU REACHED DEEP INSIDE
ONE SHINING MOMENT, YOU KNEW YOU WERE ALIVE
Feel the beat of your heart
feel the wind in your face
it’s more than a contest
it’s more than a race…
And when it’s done
win or lose
you always did your best
cuz inside you knew…
(that) ONE SHINING MOMENT, YOU REACHED FOR THE SKY
ONE SHINING MOMENT, YOU KNEW
ONE SHINING MOMENT, YOU WERE WILLING TO TRY
ONE SHINING MOMENT….

What a great season. “One Shining Moment” always gets me because it reminds me of all the effort and dedication college athletes put into their sport. Most of them aren’t going on to the next level, so this is the pinnacle of their atheletic careers. Illinois had a terrific run this year, and if 1989 is any indication, we are going to remember this team for a long time.
One Shining Moment Illini highlights:
1) Dee Brown kissing a basketball
2) Roger Powell Jr’s. textbook reason of why you should follow your shot: dunk you very much
3) Deron, for three!
4) Bruce, walking, and looking, well, peaceful.
5) Bruce, in the orange blazer, almost on his knees.
Thank you, 2004-2005 basketball team.
