In Which We Get Less Fat: Week Four

Good Morning, Tubes.

Success this week!  I worked out every day last week, including two sessions with the personal trainer, and two extended cardio sessions. The results?

Down 2.4 more pounds. Total weight lost: 9.4 lbs.

And now is where it gets hard.  Monday, I’ve got a personal training session, same with Tuesday.  Wednesday and Thursday I can only workout before school (which means only 35 min of cardio…)

And then, I’m going on vacation.  Thursday night, I’m leaving for Louisville and the Kentucky Derby.  It’s going to be a hard weekend of me fighting the urge to gorge myself on delicious KFC, or whatever it is they eat in the Bluegrass State. And the mint juleps and other assorted beverages one may imbibe on such a trip.  And the driving food. Suffice to say, I’m hoping for a lot of grilled chicken and far-away parking so I can do some walking.  Any suggestions of how to live through this minefield of a weekend would be welcome.  I know I shouldn’t set myself up for failure, but I expect to be up in weight this time next week.  We shall see!

Have a great week!

Mint juleps have sugar in them, which goes against your weight loss goals. Instead, order the whisky neat, or perhaps with an ice cube.

Driving munchies are understandable, but stay away from empty carbs. Look for protein… almonds, beef jerkey, etc.

Go learn how to win at horse betting so you can teach me.

Honey, no diet is worth passing up the experience of sampling a buffet of locally distilled whiskeys……
Just plan your splurges now, instead of making a heat of the moment decision. That’s always helped me out (says the 9-month pregnant women who devoured an entire casserole pretty much by herself last night…….)

An addition to Kenny’s suggestion for driving munchies…

I like fruit, it helps as it is generally more filling then the usual candy and chips, and its good for you. Bananas, oranges, and my personal favorite of grapes. Wash and separate them ahead of time and keep them as cold as possible. Great snack for keeping you cool in the warm sun as well.

Oh yes, and you have to go for the whiskeys, it’s like a law… ;)

I like combos, okie dokie, and M&M’s while I’m driving.

I’m becoming a fan of the Terra vegetable chips - very tasty yet a whole lot better for you than the standard snacks. You’ve got to drink away at the Derby, though. Have a great time!
